Hey Good Citizens of the Sassyverse
Are we well into February as I finally get this shit typed and posted? Fuck yea, but time is a construct and I choose more often than not to abstain from engaging in weird ass time constraints. The messages in the cards I pulled for February are messages that I truly hope you all will carry forward.
This post will be longer than my posts usually are- use the voice option to listen instead of read with your eyes if need be, grab some snacks and a cuppa so you can’t comfy, or prepare to break this reading up into a couple session. Whatever works best for you, babes. But get into these messages!
This is a collaboration post with
, so when you are done here, please go read her post as well for more insights into this spread below and how to come together as a collective force. In January, Aventurine and I both pulled cards for this spread and shared our revelations with one another. I think for me, when I pulled these cards, it was about how to move forward with my creative endeavors and my business because I have severely been struggling with juggling single parenthood, a stressful and chaotic full time job, and chronic illness. I wanted to know how to get motivation back into my creative and political work.
Upon further discussion, I noticed that this spread had a *bigger* meaning, if you will. Like, imagine thinking about a COMMUNITY meant to heal and work together. What do these prompts reveal when cards are pulled through lens of seeking out collective energy and guidance for the community, rather than just an individual?
How do we tend to our work as a community?
These cards got me HYPE! There are so many wonderful messages within these cards, so let me do my best to summarize.
Within this first message, we are given the realest warning of our lives. If you fucks with me, this space, how I engage with community healing + social justice, then you are on edge with the political shift in power happening in our country. And the fucking TOWER card tells us to be prepared. We are given the warning to rely more now than ever on community and safe spaces, to which we should not only withdraw from, but also contribute to, in order to do our work of maintaining and rebuilding from the rubble. Stay tapped in because the work will involve revolution, major shifts, and more importantly, a collaborative effort to make something out of ashes, rubble, ruin, fear, and confusion.
But don’t be scared. Within this same collection of messages, we are also given the way forward.
As a community, we need to cultivate between us a sense of balance, communication, openness to each other’s experiences, and a willingness to have our points of view challenged so that we can expand and ascend. The message is that we need to intuitively navigate differences, bending and folding with compassion within our shared spaces, for the collective greater good of expansion. There is also a message of complexity here, for me.
On the one hand, we are being called to stay self aware and do our intra-personal healing so that we can be well-adjusted, open minded critical thinkers who contribute to the collective healing of the community and world at large. Change requires multi-faceted and multi-level healing. We are being called to focus inward on connecting with our own intuition, to work on our own wounds and fear, so that who we are when we commune is a version of ourselves that best offers healing and sustainable support to the collective. In doing so, and being vocal about this inner work, we not only set the standard for how the work we do together is to be conducted (we expect those in the this space to attend to their individual healing and come to the space appropriately) but we are also leading by example.
What can we do to create a better work environment for ourselves?
Collectively, these cards are really wonderful. Let’s rephrase “work environment” with “community justice space”. How can we be intentional about creative community safe space so that we can heal, resist, and transform?
These cards suggest that, on an individual level, we should be steadfast and consistent in our healing, wellbeing, shadow and trauma work. A community is made up of individuals and the collective to which we belong can only ever be as strong as the members who make it up. There is also a message of recognizing our individual unique skills: Are you an organizer? A problem solver? A gardener? Do you have a trade? Are you able to afford therapy? Books? Extra food?
What can you contribute? What can you share? And how can you stay present in seeking ways to bring all of the abundance that is you to the shared space?
And as we move on, day by day, intentionally involved in our individual healing work and being responsible for our personal trauma … as we build a community by contributing our individual skills and resources to the collective, we can literally create an environment for resistance work, for collective healing work… Ultimately for Change.
And as we create this environment, a community that mirrors our healing, intentions, and aligned efforts, we can then focus on the process of accumulating and sharing resources. We can learn to detach from possessiveness and scarcity and reframe how to cultivate, sustain, and share abundance.
What attitude can inspire love and care towards my work?
This is all about balance. It’s about release to allow for expansion. It is about surrendering to change to achieve a higher perspective. It’s about unlearning yourself as the center of your life, but rather, as a mere part of a moving, breathing, magical whole.
When you are part of the whole, your sense of self expands from your immediate needs and those in your immediate peripheral of care to the greater collective. Caring for you is caring for the community is caring for the environment is caring for the planet is caring for space is caring for time. Through this deepening of what we understand to be interconnectedness, what role does your healing play? What does WORK mean when you consider your part in the cosmic whole?
How significant the ripples you create become!! I personally really love to think about expansion in this way. Whenever I feel meek and insignificant, or unheard, I remember that I alone can be a drop that creates a ripple in a body of water that expands miles. And that ripple can affect ecosystems, wildlife, and cycles throughout time beyond my comprehension.
The message here is to recognize and sit deep within your own insignificance long enough to actually become intimate with it. Because only through that self awareness, that radical honesty with yourself, can you fathom how truly impactful your intentional presence within community actually can be!
How can my work reward me?
I can’t speak for everyone, but sometimes I get so wrapped up in how “The Work”, in all its multifaceted nuances, just never fucking ends. I don’t ever stop to think about the JOY within the work, the INTEGRITY and POWER within the work. I definitely never consider REWARD within the work.
What I love about this message is that The Reward is a deeper, more complex, and more expansive, yet balanced, understanding of ourselves and one another. The possibility of approaching new people, ideas, experiences, and change all with feelings of curiosity and excitement shines through to me in this message.
I get, from these cards, that the sky is the limit and balance is possible. Not just balance superficially, but INTERSECTIONAL EQUITY within that balance.
The reward is a feeling of possibility during what feels like impossible times. The reward is HOPE.
